A Step Beyond the Nineteenth Century Music Paradigm in Graduate Education: Exploring Arts Entrepreneurship
My current research project examines arts entrepreneurship curricula activities at various university music departments indexed by the Carnegie Classifications of Higher Education as institutions with “Highest Research Activity” along with accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). All music departments offer the Doctor of Musical Arts degree program. These music departments currently participate, or have previously participated, with the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP). The outcome of this research will illustrate the similarities and differences regarding graduate music curricula and arts entrepreneurship programs between similarly classified institutions. This case study will provide thorough insight covering arts entrepreneurship activities at similarly accredited and classified music departments along with critique based on the data collected as part of this project.
